Wool Oriental Area

is it possible to repair a wool carpet myself? I'm crafty - I bought it cheap at flea market - it's wool.

It's not an oriental - it has some design details (leaves) in the same color that are slightly lower rise and a different sort of style - almost like embroidery - than the rest of the nap which is the usual fluffyness - and the whole thing is big blocks of color so it doesn't have to be a 'pure' repair.... the damage is on the edges and a few spots in the middle areas - only through the wool part - the lining is perfect....I'm thinking I'll just buy some wool at the craft store and see if I can sew it in! what do you think?

Sounds feasible to me...would hot glue dry too brittle? It would be easier if it would work. Super glue?
If you can't match the wool, you may want to mingle it by moving some of the good threads to the worn area and scattering your new threads at random throughout the square. I love to give new life to old things, they have such a charm about them. My home always makes people ooh and ahhh and the only new items in it are appliances and mattresses. Also, I like to use things in a different way, for instance, I found a broken crib with beautiful spindled sides. Freed one side, removed the hardware, stood it against the wall like a small ladder and hung magazines over the spindles. Presto! adorable magazine rack on my sun porch. Have fun!
