Why does my cat do this?

So I have a turkish van. He's a beautiful cat and he's 2 years old. I googled about them on the internet and it's said that long ago, Gypsies used these cats to take and steal things from other people. So I noticed that everytime I come home from school, there's either a stuffed animal on the floor and theres a t-shirt and I've found a couple times that he's dragged a huge wool blanket that looked heavy for him! I don't understand his behavior when he does this! He just likes to drag things down and leave them there on the floor. He's also the only cat that I've noticed who loves the water! When I take a shower, he'll sit there on the toilet and stare at me through the curtain and cry out when I say his name! It's the funniest thing I've seen in an animal! Anyone know anything?

I agree w/ the previous poster. It's a lot to do with instinct. One of my cats likes to drag things to their water fountain and drop them in. I'll come home and find all kinds of things in there. He just likes to watch water and see how different objects interact with it. He'll also jump up on the edge of the washer and watch me load the clothes while the water pours in. Once he fell in, poor little guy! I read somewhere that water is fascinating to some cats. It doesn't mean that they themselves want to get in and play, but maybe a small frisbee-type dish of water would be a good way to engage your cat's mind and playful side.

As far as dragging things around, same thing. I'll find all kinds of things on our bed at night, shoe strings, pencils, their toys, you name it. I think that wherever they lie down, they like to have a bit of something with which to occupy themselves.
