Tan Persian Carpet

Could I pull of throwing a dark wood Modernist dresser in a Persian-inspired room?

The wall colour is a goldish tan, and the carpets are deep red, and I felt the dark wood and simple lines might offset the detail and light colour palette? Can these two incredibly different designs function together?

In my opinion, there would always be a conflict between two styles that have different backgrounds... when i design(im an architect btw), i never combine any two styles which are totally different... such as modernist, and persian which is ancient in the contrary. Even when i'm trying to achieve an ecclectic taste or a maximalist style, a furniture like a dresser might become out of place rather than blend with the room motif.. although the idea that furnitures which are a little darker in shade would probably be a good choice for this...
You might probably remedy this by buying a mantel or a table cloth with a Persian touch to it... and place a lampshade with details. Try to capture as possible the influence and the background of the place, and you may find inspiration on books or sites about Persian design.. hope this helps, Good luck
