Silk Rug

I have a big rug mad out of silk and wool. I accidently put oil paint on it. How do i get it off?

it huge and very expensive. what should i do?
the paint got on the bottom of my shoe and there's little green splotches in some places. the main color of the rug is yellow and red.

:...Got white paint on a fluffy acrylic jumper - not an ideal candidate for harsh scrubbing. Unfortunately didn't notice it until it had dried.
First I tried the paint manufacturer's recommendation - turpentine. No result, except that I rubbed off a lot of the fluff and that took some of the paint with it.
I washed it in a strong mix of Napisan (mostly hoping the turpentine smell would go away), with no result.
I'm in rural Australia and have never seen the hairspray you folk seem to have - ours comes sealed into spray cans, and is not pourable, but I tried spraying it on and rubbing - no result.
Now my laundry room smells *awful* and I still have stains on.
I'm going to try to find white spirits or paint thinner next...
Any other hints? " ........
