Sage Beige

When painting a wall two tones, should the darker color go on top or bottom?

Painting the kitchen wall. It has dark brown paneling from the 70s on the bottom and is white (not paneled) on the top. We're going to strip the paneling, sand it, and paint it. We're going to do two different colors (ex. sage & beige). Here's the question:

Should the darker tone (sage) go on the top or bottom? Would it look odd if the darker tone went on the top and the lighter tone (beige) went on the bottom?

I think that since you are using a sage color that it would be okay to paint it on top and beige on the bottom. Here is an example of darker shade on top, lighter on lower:

You just don't want to paint a deep dark color on top and light on the bottom because it will make the room feel top heavy.

Also, it may not be necessary to strip and sand the paneling. I have painted a lot of paneling in my time and cleaning it with something like Painters Helper No Sand cleaner then using a good THICK quality primer right after you clean it, you can paint whatever you want on it, it adheres beautifully. I always put at least two to three coats of primer though.

What color scheme would you do in a light sage green bedroom?

The carpet is a very light beige, dark oak trim. Need ideas for curtains and bedspread and accent colors

you could do a dark red or brown

or you could go with a powder blue and brown
