Rug Made Iran

Antique rug made in Iran... please help!?
The other day I just found out that I had a hand-made rug that was made in Iran and bought by my grandparents about 10-15 years ago, the rug is about 6x8 and they paid around $2000 dollars for it.
My question is what is the proper way to clean a rug that is hand-made? It has not been cleaned in years only vacuumed... and also is there a market place for these rugs? if I do decide I want to sell it.
to sell try craigslist or ebay I have had good luck with both. Never sell your rug before you know what it is.
Also, a $2000 rug will need to be professionally cleaned. WHATEVER you do, NEVER clean with an in home service. Go to the professionals and ask for a submersive wash. Expect to pay 2.00 a square foot depending on location. Market values of rugs change a lot within 10-15 years. Most rug people want 250 for a formal appraisal so check out rugrag.com. they help you free if you contact them. They also have two tools you may find useful which are sourced below

Iran (Paperback) $66.79 Over the last few decades, Iranian architects have made a significant contribution to architectural design. This has, however, remained largely unrecognised internationally, as architects in Iran have had little exposure in publications abroad and the diaspora of well-known Iranian designers working in the West, such as Hariri & Hariri and Nader Tehrani of NADAA, are not necessarily associated with their cultural background. Moreover Iran, or rather Persia, has one of the richest and longest architectural heritages, which has a great deal of untapped potential for contemporary design. The intention of this issue is both to introduce key works and key architects from a range of generations ? at home and abroad ? and to highlight the potential of historical structures for contemporary architecture. Features Hariri & Hariri, Nader Tehrani of NADAA and Studio Integrate.Places the spotlight on emerging practices in Iran: Arsh Design Studio, Farjadi Architects, Fluid Motion Architects, Pouya Khazaeli.and Kourosh Rafiey (Asar).Contributors include: Farrokh Derakhshani, Darab Diba, Dr Nasrine Faghih, Michael Hensel and Jeffrey Kipnis.Looks at garden and landscape design as well as the urban fabric in Iran from a historical and contemporary context.? Includes articles on the work of post-revolutionary architecture. |

Road 41 (Iran) $66.91 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Road 41 is a road in southwestern Iran, Khuzestan. It starts from Khorramshahr and goes up to Ahvaz along the main road next to Karun River. Then it goes to Shushtar, Northeast of Ahvaz. After that it goes north to Dezful. And at last it goes to north to Andimeshk via expressway. Andimeshk is a city in Khuzestan province, Iran, located about 34 km north of Shoush, on the main road and the rail line from Tehran to Ahvaz. The name first appears in cuneiform tablets from Mesopotamia from the Ur III period (21st to 20th century BCE) in the form Adamshakh, with a probable meaning Crocodile (Town). Later on ANDAMASKA or ANDIMASKA meaning plenty of butter where local villages like GheelAB and Lour and two fortresses were added to it. The city was en route to Ilam and Anshan and later on to Lorestan, this made it a strategically very important till late Sassanid era. Use an Area Rug to Add Color and Class to Your Home
An area rug can transform a room or 2 in your house by adding color, style and flair to your room. A well chosen area rug can do wonders for any home.
There are all sorts of area rugs that you can buy. There is a wide range of different ways to make area rugs. Many are handmade, though there are some beautiful machine made area rugs available too. And they are made from a wide range of different types of both natural and artificial fibres.
Here's a quick roundup of some of the more well known and loved area rugs.
Persian rugs are rugs made from what was known as Persia but is now known as Iran. They use techniques that go back thousands of years to make their rugs and they are high quality stunning rugs. Different areas in Iran have different techniques and this results in different styles of rug. So if you love Persian rugs learn more about the different styles.
Oriental rugs are generally rugs made in Asian countries like China and India, although they can also be made in Iran too. Oriental rugs look great and are very versatile, and can be used in many different locations and look good.
Moroccan rugs are obviously made in Morocco and are generally purchased there and brought home, though you can buy them here. They are highly colored and look great and wear well.
Cheaper area rugs are often made by machine to look like some of those rugs that I have told you about already. Nothing wrong with a machine made rug, but I always like a handmade area rug, but that's just me. There's something about the fact that people made it, rather than a machine.
And there are so many fibers around now that are used in rug making too.I like natural fibers like jute, sisal, sea grass, hemp and bamboo but these can be a little prone to wear while some of the artificial fibers are better wearing.
There's a lot to learn about area rugs, and decorating a home with area rugs, most beyond the scope of this article. But there's no doubt that a well placed area rug can do wonders for your home. It will make it look fresher and more colorful, and will brighten up any room. An area rug is great for a kids room, and there are so many different shapes and sized of area rugs that they can be used just about anywhere. I love runner rugs for halls and corridors.
So if you're looking to brighten up a room that may be looking a little tired or jaded consider a great area rug. You may have heard that area rugs are expensive to buy. In some places that may be true but there are a few ways to buy cheap area rugs that are cheap in price but not in quality. You just have to know where to look.
