I am not happy with Direct Energy. The water heater leaked. And my rug is ruined now.?

We have been customer for 18 years. This water heated was 13 years old. They want to give me $200. to replace a 3000. carpet. Has anyone got any advise? thanks
This is a Rental from them. Paid 21.00Plus tax for last 13 years. just for information for the person that wondered why they would be liable. I think they should know better how long a water heater of theirs should last, and they know the water in this area is hard also. I thought maybe they might consider putting in new water heaters before their life span is over. But what do I know I am just a woman..but make sence to me.

Water heaters are generally only good for 10 or so years unless you maintain it. Why is it Direct Energy's fault that your old water heater leaked? And if your carpet cost $3000 in that area you've been took.
