What kind of carpet would match forest green walls?

I want to paint the walls in my living room forest green and I need help finding a carpet to match. The entertainment stand and coffee table are dark brown wood with glass accents. Also my couch is tan with multicolored pillows--dark blue, dark red, and green. What kind of carpet will go well with this combination? I either want a solid color or an oriental style rug, and my budget is anything up to $1,500. Links would be great Thanks.

With forest green, your best bet would be a neutral beige/sandy brown color throughout the room. Once you have the carpet installed, you could purchase a large area rug to really bring out the color of your walls. An oriental area rug as a focal point in your room would be beautiful with forest green. Help Ugly Carpet!?

We're renters not owners, so we can't do too much, and even though we've offerd to do it (and pay for it) the owner won't let us rip it out.
What can I do? The carpet is really old , worn out , and brown. I was thinking about buying a pretty area rug. That would liven up the room, and cover up some of the ugly.

But, can you put a carpet / rug on top of an already carpeted floor? Would that be too unusuall ?

Most rooms i've seen with pretty rugs in them have the rugs are hard floors like over wood or tile.

Please any help or suggestions! We're desperate!

A nice big rug would be beautiful..................You can also hide a lot of the problem areas with coordinating smaller rugs.....Use ..Boxes and trunks and baskets with lots of greenery draping out of them to hid problem areas if they happen to be next to a piece of your furniture................Also enhance the walls with an unusual piece of art...It will take your focus off of the floor covering.................If you can rent a shampooer or have one............Sometimes they just need a little T.L.C...................Good Luck
