North India is full of tourist attractions and appeals tourists from all over the world. There are a number of historic cities and popular tourist destinations in the northern part of India. New Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Varanasi, Jodhpur, Shimla, Manali, Kashmir, etc are some of popular tourist destinations in northern part of the country. In this article, I am trying to put brief information about top three interesting & popular tourist destinations of north India.

First of all I tell you about New Delhi, the capital city of India. New Delhi is perhaps the most visited tourist and important cities in the northern part of country with several good reasons. The city had been the seat of many empires and still preserves their forts and palaces. The city is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are the Red Fort (also known as Lal Quila), the Qutub Minar (Qutub Complex) and the Humayun's Tomb. The Red Fort is believed to be one of the most opulent mughal monuments in India. It was built by great mughal emperor Shah Jahan after shifting his capital to Delhi from Agra. The fort complex is known for its architectural brilliance and never fails to lure its visitors.

Qutub Minar is situated in the Qutub Complex is the longest brick tower in the world. It was named after Qutab-ud-din Aibak. It is an excellent example of Indo-Islamic Architecture. The architecture of the Qutub Minar was inspired by the Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan. The Qutub Complex attracts tourists with Qutub Minar, Madarsa, Graves, Tombs, Mosque, and ruins of architectural structures.

Humayun's Tomb: It is a beautiful complex of buildings built as the tomb of mughal emperor Humayun by his widow Hamida Banu Begum. It is known for its architectural excellence. It was the fist garden tomb in India. Along with Humayun's Tomb, the complex also houses tombs of his wife (Hamida Banu Begum), Dara Sikoh (son of Emperor Shah Jahan) and many mughal emperors and personalities.

Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, India Gate, Safdarjang's Tomb, Old Fort, etc are other important places of tourist interest in New Delhi. Definitely, a well-planned tour in New Delhi will be a complete showcase of India tours and travels.

Fatehpur Sikri is situated in the outskirts of Agra City. It was built by mughal emperor Akbar as his capital but soon the city was abandoned due to scarcity of drinking water. The city is famous for ruins of ancient monuments along with Buland Darwaza (the largest gateway in the world), Panch Mahal and Salim Chisti Mosque.
