Light Green Oriental

What is this vegetable?

I bought a vegetable from a local Asian/Oriental food shop recently. Anyway the guy behind the counter said it was a 'norcar' (at least, that's what it sounded like he said, but that can't be the correct spelling cos' a Google search brings up nothing).
Anyway, he said they have them in his homeland of Egypt. It was roughly round shaped and light green on the outside, as were the long roots. It looked vaguely similar to a celeriac. Once peeled it was white inside, and taste-wise, having made soup with it, it tasted quite similar to turnip or swede.
Does anyone have any idea what vegetable this could be (as I say, it's pronounced something like 'norcar').

I think you are talking about kohlrabi. I like it peeled and eat it raw. Its light green in color and shares the characteristics that you describe. Google kohlrabi and see a picture of what it looks like to see if that's what you bought. (prounounced coal-rah-bee)

Wall Lighting With Your Style in Mind

It has come to my attention that many of my readers have very little information when it comes to wall lighting. I get contacted all the time by my friends in cyberspace who would like to have a general idea of what is available to them in the form of wall lighting. Some of them go as far as to tell me what room they intend to install wall lights and include the theme or style of room decor, so I am able to suggest the wall lighting best to fill their needs.

This is what gave me the idea to write this information on wall lighting. I’m hoping this information will reach those of you who are eager to learn more on this subject and take advantage of what is available to you in the world of wall lighting fixtures.

I’m going to start out by giving you a list of suggested rooms and walls that are quite appropriate to accommodate wall lighting. Although this is a comprehensive list, you may be able to come up with other walls in which to install wall lighting.

You may want to consider installing wall lighting fixtures on walls in the following: Bathroom, Bedroom, Breakfast Room, Closet, Den, Dining Room, EntryFoyer, Exterior, Family Room, Garage, Hall, Kitchen, Living Room, Mudroom, Office, Patio, Porch, Study and Walkway.
