Before starting production on your rabbit pen you should first recognize some facts about rabbits. Rabbits enjoy chewing on things that are wooden, so when manufacturing a hutch wood should only be included as framework where they can't get to it. Rabbits urinate a lot and therefore they should be given hutches constructed from metal and not wood. Lumber will become saturated with urine, causing odors and potential physical health issues. If you make a decision to use wood where the rabbits can chew on it be sure to use untreated wood. Treated wood can be injurious to your critters.

A rabbit pen is a pretty easy thing to manufacture and will offer your rabbits safety from the environment and good air circulation. You can indeed purchase a hutch, but building one yourself can save you some cash.
