How to decorate card box??

I bought what looks like a wooden treasure chest at Micheals for our card box but am stumped now with what to do with it. I am wearing an ivory gown that is heavily beaded on top and the colors are Alfred Angelos Espresso and Harvest Gold. Should I paint it, should I try and put fabric on it???? Below is an example of what it looks like from a Micheals craft idea.

Umm, you DO need a card box for people who bring a card with cash. You really don't want cards laying on a table with thousands of dollars in them for anyone to pick up. If you don't understand the question, DON'T answer it!!!

You could do either paint or fabric. I don't know exactly what to do with the paint unless you paint it all one color maybe espresso and then use a harvest gold crackle paint over it.
FOr the fabric, I would use adhesive spray to attach batting to it. Over the batting you could use ivory satin either in a floral pattern or plain. You could also use ivory silk. You may need to use a staple gun to attach the fabric tightly to the inside of the box. You could decorate it with rhinestones in various patterns or just leave it plain.
