In the Hamadan area, 1500 villages specialize in their own designs, creating over 3000 variations. This particular rug was made in the village of Malayer and was crafted by the Sultani family. In this family, there are three generations of family weaving the rugs; the grandmother, mother and daughters all help in the rug production.
