Garden Burgundy

Seniors, what do you see, what do you hear?
Mak gave an answer that made me visualize sitting on the stoop, gazing at the lake, so I am wondering ..
What do you see when you look out your back door, sitting on your back stoop or patio, your window? Is there something you would rather see ?
Please do not give out info that identifies the city you live in, just to be safe.
I see a very tall too tall maple tree with leaves of deep green and burgundy. Clay and sand hills covered with sage brush and cacti, blue sky, and railroad tracks, sadly, not a super view unless you like semi arid, and of course my little garden with flowers and a few veggies.
I hear my wind chimes, the wind in the maple, and some birds chirping. I would rather hear and see the ocean, and my kids playing like they did when they were litte
What do you see and hear in your little part of the world?
Really good answers
It makes me feel I know everyone a little better. Thanks
I would much rather have a view of the ocean to see the tide go in and
out. It's a relaxing and uplifting view, that I rarely can see anymore.
So in the absence of that, I am fortunate to now make my home with
a once in a lifetime, view from my front door. For in the distance, I look
beyond the expanse of lush green lawn, to the distant hillsides further
beyond the mighty Columbia River. On a sunny day, I often see the little white dots of sailboats floating up and down. Or an occasional
barge, or cabin cruiser. Closer to us on our side of the river, is the
train tracks heading east and west. And every evening we see a train slowing to a stop, with it's head lights brightly shining. We see steady lines of traffic at the Interstate Bridge down river to our right. To the opposite left, are the jets and prop jets, that carry passengers from the international airport. Often one will fly over us and we can see the propellers when they're so close. Often small private planes fly low
overhead, from a local air park, and we can almost see the pilots.
Sittinig from our patio, we enjoy moving scenery, among the
stationary view. Closer up, in our back/ front yard combined,
we see frequent gatherings of little and larger birds. And their
melodies are so wonderful to hear on a sunny morning and evening.
You can hear the happiness as one joins in, after another ends their
song of greeting. How relaxing it is to hear and see them as they land in the yard, or perch on the short fencing along the perimeter. There is a huge Evergreen fir tree to the right rear end of the yard. At it's base is a pink hued old fashioned rose bush. It needs trimming and it's branches reach to the sides of the evergreen. And there are tall fir trees sitting further away from our property line that interfere with our distant viewing. There is a huge towering Rhododendrun on the left property line. And several shorter fruit trees just beyond and below the southern border of the property. Either our two dogs are seen playing in the yard, or the upstairs neighbors' dogs are enjoying it. They often chase each other for exercise, barking with excitement, as they run around.
To the left of our patio, is a set of stairs that wind up and around to
the landlords' upper half of the house we live in. And to the right of
our patio, is a brick walk to the 15 steps to the parking and street
level, that we must climb to reach our car. To our immediate right,
is our rock garden, where in the middle, sits a new yard swing with
a covered canope. There are two round containers of small flowering
bedding plants, to make it look cozy. A narrow maple tree sits on
each end of the stairs to provide a bit of privacy from our next door
neighbor. South of the rock garden, is a brick walkway, bordered on
the other side by a row of roses, both old fashioned style, and the
more popular with heavy thorns. There are soft pink petals combined
with a deeper hue. And there are some citris smelling yellow roses
that are sheer delight interspersed in the row. The smells are so
wonderful. I had begun to think new rose bushes were without frag-
rances. But these are fragrant, and are so enjoyable.
I have a couple of metal wind chimes hanging from the overhead
wood decking, and some plastic twisted spinners that twirl in the
breezes. A silk tree stands in a woven pot, next to our front door.
And a wooden wind 'chime' makes an annoying 'clunking' sound
when the wind makes it move. I have setting next to the row of rose
bushes off the patio, two tomato plants in tall square containers, and some smaller planters hold some mini strawberry plants, that are bearing the tiniest forms of the fruit. At the end of the row of roses, are two round containers. One holds a flowering Zuchini plant, and the other holds a cucumber plant. Both have equally large leaves, and I am
anxiously waiting for the day I can harvest the produce. Since we
sit under an overhead deck, we have below it to the left side, on our
patio, an old kitchen bar with gardening implements and stacked pots.
This attests to the gardener, that the former tenent was, which she
left behind. And it serves us well, as extra shelving for our own aids
to keep the garden and pot plantings continually producing. This con-
cludes our view from our patio. It may not be the beach view I'd desire,
but it is tranquil and relaxing and so serene for this aging couple to
enjoy.

Add A Touch Of Class With A Garden Hose Pot
Each and every spring, homeowners will pull out the trusty old garden hose to use throughout another long summer. It is definitely one piece of equipment that any green yard or garden cannot do without.
The problem that arises in many cases is: just where do you store your 50 or 100 foot hose?
Those that are organized and respect the investment they have made in this trusty spring and summer device will probably have a sturdy hose reel placed next to the house so that it can be stored easily between uses.
For those that are looking for a more decorative method for storage, consider investing in a garden hose pot.
When researching the kinds of hose pots that are available commercially, you most likely will find that they can be made from a variety of materials. Copper garden hose pots are popular, but many cheaper models today are made of weather resistant fiberglass.
A good hose pot can usually store more than 100 feet of hose. On the side of the unit is a hole, which allows for a continuous connection to a faucet or spigot.
Like the garden hose reel, the garden hose pot sits on the ground, and can be partially hidden if so desired. They are especially useful for those homeowners that have an outdoor pool.
There are many varieties of pots available today. It is important to choose one that fits the outside look of your home.
For example, brick homeowners can easily choose a boldly colored one, such as burgundy or blue to compliment the outside appearance of their home.
Other models are made of decorative stonework or terra cotta to give the home or pool area a more classy or traditional look. If ceramic is your favorite, you'll have no problem finding a ceramic hose pot in many colors to match that will match the exterior of your home.
Surprise your neighbors this year and add a touch of class to your home this summer by storing your hose in a garden hose pot.
