What's the use of haveing a beautifull fish tank?

I got this beautiful tank with 2 silver dollars, 1 gold barb and a common pleco from a friend of mine, she moved and didn't want to take the tank and fish with her. So Now I have a small problem, what's the use of having a fish tank with beautiful fish in it if you can't go near the tank cause the silver dollars scare easily. I only poke my head in the door and walk REALLY SLOWLY tiptoeing not to scare them and when I get within a meter of the tank they scare and flash around in the tank like I am on a mission to kill them!

She only has one fake plant in the tank, I was thinkin' maybe they need more hiding space and I can buy more plants, but how do I get the plants in the water without scarring them to death? I also have to vacuum the rug at some point, but the vacuum cleaner also makes them jump. What to do? What to do? Got any suggestions?

you really need 4 more barbs and 4 more silver dollars. they will then feel so much safer but realize that plecos get 2 feet long and only eat algea which makes them a bad choice and silver dollars get 6 inches long and need to school. for the gold barb you could also put a tiger barb or a green barb in with it because the are all the same thing there colors are just different. also how large is your tank? just wandering. my 2 silver dollars arent afraid of any thing unless the other fish freak out which might also be the problem since you should have more barbs he probably gets scared easilly which causes the pleco and silver dollars to freak. also get more plants but DON'T get any live plants cause the silver dolars will eat them untill they are nothing. hope this helped. good luck with the tank!
