Cream Beige

Please help. I have got a cream/beige carpet its only six months old but have a large mark where our dog likes

to lie down. We have trained her to sleep on her bed but are left with a dog greasy mark I have tried the shop bought carpet cleaners, do you have any suggestions of what I can use. I have a very houseproud friend who mentions it every time she calls, I cant cover it with a rug as its in the door area and cant change the carpet.

If you can't get anything to work, you could have someone come in and patch the carpet with the same kind (they cut out one areas and seamlessly replace it with another new piece.) Also, you could try calling a carpet cleaning specialist to come and get it out. Or you could rent a cleaning machine (or is that what you meant?) Or you could tell your "friend" that it isn't very friendly to rag you about something that you can't necessarily help. What kind of friend has to make herself feel better by making you feel bad? If you get the carpet patched, keep the piece they remove and put it down like a rug where the dog likes to sleep. Move it a bit at a time every day until it is in a different area. If you move it a bit at a time the dog should continue to lie on it (it will smell like the place it likes) as you move it until you have the dog lying in an acceptable place on the piece of carpet that you have saved. (if you don't like the look of a piece of carpet just lying around, buy some coordinating fabric and edge it like a rug) Good Luck, and tell that friend that she is rude and inconsiderate.

Color Palette for Your Dining Room

When decorating your dining room, one of the main things to think about, other than the actual dining room furniture, is the color palette. You need to decide what color your dining room furniture will be, and also what color the walls, the paneling (if any), the accessories, linen, table china etc, will be, so that you have a harmonious whole rather than a bunch of disparate or mismatched elements put together in the name of a dining room.

There are certain colors that are best avoided in the dining room because they are thought to be appetite suppressants. It is thought, by proponents of Feng Shui and by certain other experts, that the color blue should be avoided when decorating the dining room. While you are unlikely to have blue dining furniture, you should also avoid blue to decorate the walls; this is because blue is not a color that occurs very frequently in nature. There are not very many natural foods that are blue in color and so the color blue is considered to be an appetite suppressant. Similarly the colors pink and violet are also thought to be appetite suppressants and are generally to be avoided in the dining room even if they may look nice in conjunction with your particular dining room table.

Yellow and cream are generally thought to be good colors to build a convivial atmosphere in the dining room. It is especially important to use light colors if you have dark paneling in your dining room. Remember cool colors recede from the eye; warm colors come forward so keep all of this in mind when picking a color palette for your dining room.
