Antique Rug Padding

PBTeen Remodeling HELP!!!!?

Ok so pbteen has really cute furniture and i found this set i looove but is 2 expensive for my parents to afford. Could some one help me find something that looks like it but for less? kind of like a knock off i guess...! ok here is the link:

I no for the couch i could go to ikea or a furniture store or something. for the telephone i could get an antique 1 at a garage sale n paint my name on it n polka dots. the towels and the rug pad would be easy to.

I just need help with the vanity set, the stool/chair, the chandelier + light shades, the rug, and the letter pillow.
If you have any home made suggestions to plz share them!! im open to anything!!

I think they key is that you've identified your style. I'd call it Shabby Chic or cottage You're probably going to have a hard time finding pieces like this for super cheap, they're large pieces of furniture BUT some creative repurposing may get you this style.

First, you can paint anything white and distress it! You can add hooks and mirrors. do you have access to a sewing machine? It's VERY easy to make throw pillows. You can also make basket liners and other cute things to coordinate.

Also, Target seems to have a nice shabby chic line. I found this Vanity!

If you had a dresser that you painted white (remember you can always change out the knobs too) it'd be cute. Above it you can get a cheap bulletin board and hooks and paint it and hang it on the wall to serve the same purpose as the one from PBteen.

Just keep your eyes out for good deals at yard sales, etc and remember white paint can do wonders. See if there are any discount home stores in your area and try to go there too. It make take a little time to get all these pieces but with a little patience you should be able to!

Quality Rug Pad: How to Choose

Whether you have an antique rug or a new rug and you're concern is to make sure to get a quality rug pad, your choices are good yet you need to pay attention to details. There are many quality rug pads available that are either non slip pads or simply to protect your rug and floor while adding comfort. In the different levels of rug pads there are a few aspects you should consider when looking for a quality pad.

In the world of non slip rug pads, the quality ones are either made of an organic substance or a solid rubber. I stress solid rubber because a very inexpensive way to manufacture non slip pads is to use nylon or pvc, a form of plastic, and to coat this material with a spray adhesive to give it a non slip feature. Unfortunately, this spray is only temporary before it stops providing a non slip feature and usually marks and damages your floor. The organic version of this, a non slip pad with holes, uses more plant oils in place of the chemical spray and has been proven to last without damaging most floors. This pad is dense to prolong the life of your rug and protect your floor from scratches and indentations. Here, again, the quality version of this pad is one in which the rubber side is a solid layer of natural rubber. Many are made today at a less expensive level using a sprayed on latex. Although some of these latex sprays may be a form of rubber, the fact that it is a spray and not a solid layer that is sewn on causes the material to break down and possibly stick to your floor. Finally, a quality rug pad for rugs that do not require a non slip function is one made of a recycled jute. This pad is mold and mildew resistant, nonallergenic and is compressed in such a way that the density protects the rug and floor. The felt jute rug pad is made in various qualities, or density, and the best is a 40 ounce. This is dense enough to protect your rug and floor yet soft enough to feel the comfort of it. Here, make sure the pad is made from a recycled jute and does not contain any chemicals or latex.

Making a small investment now on the right quality rug pad for your rugs and floors could prove to avoid costly damage later. Find your rug pad sources and take a little time to make sure the rug pad is the quality your rug and floor deserves.
